Talents That Remove Setback Dice

When there are no Setback () dice in a check, players may trade two “Remove Setback” for a single Boost die .

This House Rule is to help keep these “Remove Setback” talents valuable without the need to artificially add Setback die to checks that do not warrant them.

Example 1

Sona, a Bothan Smuggler, is attempting to plot a course to the outer-rim. Sona is not under any pressure and may take her time plotting the course.

The following Astrogation check is about to be rolled:

Sona has two ranks of Galaxy Mapper which could remove a total of from Astrogation checks. Since there are no Setback dice in this check, Sona trades the remove from Galaxy Mapper for a single die.

The final dice pool is:

Example 2

Ryenne, a human Engineer, is attempting to repair an anti-aircraft turret while the Rebel base is being bombed by the tenacious Empire!

The following Mechanics check is about to be rolled:

Ryenne has two ranks of Gearhead which could remove a total of from Mechanics checks. Since there is a Setback die in the check, this optional House Rule can not be used. Ryenne uses Gearhead as written and removes the one Setback die.

The final dice pool is:

Example 3

Katsuni, a Togruta Seeker, is attempting to track her target through the lush forests of the planet, Shili. Her prey does not know they are being hunted and Katsuni is under no extra pressure.

The following Survival check is about to be rolled:

Katsuni has one rank of Expert Tracker which could remove a total of from Survival checks to track targets. While there are no Setback dice in this check, Katsuni is only able to remove one die through Expert Tracker, not the required two for this House Rule. This House Rule cannot be used an no is granted.

The final dice pool is:
